Narendra Modi led NDA government is also reforming the government systems and bodies, likewise the Schemes and Financial acts. The Cabinet on Thursday decided to replace the 65 year old, Nehruvian Socialist concept “The Planning Commission of India” with “National Institute for Transforming India “,to serve as ‘Think Tank’ of the Government-a directional and policy dynamo, which will include the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. BR Ambedkar, Swami Vivekanada and Deen dayal Upadhyaya. NITI Aayog will be headed by the Prime Minister, The Chief Ministers and lieutenant governors of states and Union Territories respectively also to become the members. And the restructured body will have a vice chairman, CEO, Maximum of 4 members of the Union Council of Ministers to be nominated by the PM, 5 permanent and 2 part time members, Specialists and Practitioners with relevant Domain knowledge.

The new NITI Aayog body will accommodate all the stake holders effectively and it will form regional councils to address the issues and contingencies among or in 2 or more states. PM Modi conveyed his message to the Nation about the provisions and vision of NITI Aayog, as a landmark change is the inclusion of all State CMs & LGs of UTs in the NITI Aayog to foster the spirit of cooperative federalism. His government is committed to ensure every individual to enjoy the fruits of development and aspire to lead a better life.
Renowed economist Arvind Panagariya is likey to become the first Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog. Narendra Modi hinted about revamping the Planning Commission with an institution during his speech as Prime Minister on Independence Day, for addressing all the issues relating to Centre, State and Inter- state programs and problems in the spirit of true federalism.
