A BJP leader from Kerala wrote an article suggesting that Nathuram Vinayak Godse targeted the wrong man. The BJP leader was of the opinion that instead of killing Mahatma Gandhi he should have killed Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has distanced itself from the article written by BJP leader B. Gopalakrishnan. He was the BJP candidate in Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala.

On October 17, an article appeared in the RSS mouthpiece 'Kesari' that Nathuram Vinayak Godse, who had asssassinated Mahatma Gandhi, had killed the wrong person. Instead he should have targeted Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Gopalakrishnan opined that Nehru's selfishness was the primary reason for India's partition.

However, the RSS has called Gopalakrishnan's artical on Nehru-Gandhi-Godse to be his personal views. And the BJP leader is expected to release a statement confirming it.

The article says that historical facts before partition point that Godse had chosen the wrong target.

Gopalakrishnan's exact words were as follows: "If history students honestly verified the historical facts before partition and also the views of Godse, they may arrive at the conclusion that Godse had chosen the wrong target," as per the article.

Meanwhile, the Kerala unit of Congress party has demanded an inquiry into the Nehru-Gandhi-Godse article.
