The rage for selfies has reached to a level where people are hurting themselves for exclusive pictures. From car selfies to gun selfies the trend seems to continue. In the race for selfies, sometimes netizens forget about personal safety.

Oscar Otero Aguilar could have never thought that a casual selfie pose would kill him. The 21-year old man from Mexico was taking a selfie with a gun that killed him. The gun selfie was meant for his Facebook post.

The victim had been drinking with his two friends in the the northern Mexico City, before the selfie incident killed him.

Aguilar had meant to click a gun selfie, but the loaded weapon went off accidentally and resulted in his death. Cops were called in after the incident and said the Mexican was shot in the head.

Manfredo Paez Paez, a neighbor of Otero Aguilar, said he heard a gunshot followed by somebody screaming. He realized that someone was hurt. Paez informed the authorities immediately. When cops arrived the victim was still alive.

Otero Aguilar, however, died soon after at the scene, according to reports. An autopsy to investigate his death has been scheduled.

According to the Ministry of Public Security Otero Aguilar's death seems to be an accident. The gun selfie was intended for his Facebook, added the Ministry.

Of the two friends of Aguilar present at the scene, Omar Abner Campos Vives has been arrested. But the other friend El Paco fled from the scene.

Otero Aguilar seems to be a selfie buff. His previous Facebook posts show him lounging next to alcoholic beverages, sitting in or standing beside several types of cars. But this time his selfie craze cost him dearly.
