The BJP and Narendra Modi's landslide win in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections has been a stinging blow to the Islamic terror outfits who are now planning to hit back with vengeance. With Narendra Modi soon to be at the helm of things, the terror outfits are discerning difficult times ahead, and hence, are getting desperate to do away with Modi, someone they deem as anti-Islam.

Their unhappiness and anger is evident. On 16 May, when the entire nation was busy celebrating Modi's win, 18 jailed SIMI operatives, including its Madhya Pradesh head Abu Faisal, issued an open threat to Modi as they arrived on the Bhopal court for hearing. The arrested extremists took everyone, including the media present on the site, by surprise as they shouted inflammatory slogans against Modi —  “Ab ki baar Modi ka number” — auguring winds of terror.

With Narendra Modi ascending to power in the Center, the panic among the anti-national militant groups are finding  voice. Apparently, Modi has clearly stated that we would not tolerate any terrorism in the country.

Intimidated by the act, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister has ordered for the next SIMI hearing to be held within the jail premises through video-conferencing. But the question is, will confining terrorists to prisons solve the problem of national security?

The SIMI and IM operatives are in a hunt for a chance. Ahead of Modi's November rally in 2013, a sleeper cell of IM had conducted a recee of the area as they had grand plans of killing Modi during the rally. After failing in Patna, the IM operatives had strong plans to attack Modi in Raipur rally, but failed to execute their plans after members of sleeper cells were arrested by the police.

According to the experts, it is an ideological battle between the BJP and the RSS on one hand, and BJP and radical Islamic outfits like SIMI on the other. These terror outfits want to destabilize government by creating disturbances. Intelligence sources view that SIMI operatives could join forces with other extremists group to launch terror attacks in the near future.

Alarmed by the Bhopal incident the former director, Central Bureau of Investigation, Joginder Singh said, “In the present context, these terror modules are going for re-grouping to unleash terror in near future. Modi as PM should go whole-heartedly in bringing a strong law against terrorism and sedition charges, or else the nation would suffer as during the UPA regime due to vote bank politics.”
