6. 27 pm: Narendra Modi gives victory speech in Vadodara.

Former BJP leader Jaswant Singh loses in Barmer.

Rahul Gandhi leading with 75,104 votes over BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi.

 

5.28 pm: Left decimated in West Bengal, allege 'massive' rigging by Mamata Banergee's Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Congress' Jyotiraditya Scindia wins by a margin of by 1.27 lakh votes. He defeated the BJP candidate Pawaiya.

Amit Shah:  In 7 states Congress did not win even 1 seat.

 

4:50 pm : Sonia Gandhi : "I congratulate the new government and as party president I take responsibility for the loss.”

Rahul Gandhi : "The Congress party has done pretty badly..As vice-president of the party, I hold myself responsible."

 

4.27 pm: Arvind Kejriwal : Winning or losing is a part of elections..I got a lot of love from the people of Varanasi..I thank them.

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot takes responsibility for the party's defeat in the state. Pilot  says "It's a vote against the Congress and UPA, time to take stock"

 

4.15 pm: Sonia Gandhi wins from Rae Bareli seat by a margin of over 3.52 lakh votes. She defeated BJP's Ajay Agarwal, her nearest rival.

BJP's Kirron Kher defeats Congress' Pawan Bansal and AAP's Gul Panag. She wins by a margin of 69,642 votes.

 

4.00 pm: TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao wins Medak Lok Sabha seat, defeating Congress's Sravan Kumar Reddy

Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad loses Udhampur seat. He was defeated by BJP's Dr Jitendra Singh by 60,976 votes

DMK's A Raja loses in Nilgiris, in Tamil Nadu to AIADMK's C Gopalakrishnan.

 

3.46 pm: Shashi Tharoor wins the Thiruvananthapuram seat.

BJP gets approval of the stock market. Sensex ends 216 points higher at 24,121 after earlier rallying 1,470 points.

 

3.30 pm: Party workers have begun their celebrations outside the BJP's Delhi headquarters.

Naveen Patnaik's BJD sweeps Odisha assembly polls.

Maharashtra industries minister Narayan Rane resigns.

Congress part workers have started to demand Priyanka's entry into active politics.

 

3:25 pm: Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat has given full mandate to the BJP. For the 1st time ever, the BJP won all 26 seats in Gujarat.

Union minister Kamal Nath wins Chhindwara seat by a margin of  1.2 lakh votes.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde loses Solapur seat to BJP candidate by a margin of 1.5 lakh votes.

 

2.57 pm: Sonia Gandhi wins Rae Bareli seat.

Heavyweight Losers - Arun Jaitley (Amritsar), Ashutosh (Chandni Chowk), Kapil Sibal (Chandni Chowk), Rajmohan Gandhi (East Delhi) Sandeep Dikshit (East Delhi), Ajay Maken (New Delhi), Shazia Ilmi (Ghaziabad), Arvind Kejriwal (Varanasi), Deepa Das Munshi (Raiganj), Chandan Mitra (Hooghly)

 

12.35 pm: Narendra Modi twitter post says: "India has won! Bharat ki vijay. Achche din aane wale hai..."

 

12:22 pm:  BJP-led NDA is marching far ahead of the 300 seats mark. The trends available for 540 out of 543 seats show the BJP and its allies leading in 323 seats, while the Congress and its allies are ahead in 73 seats.

The trends for other parties are as follows: JD(U) 4, AIADMK (37), Samajwadi Party 1, Bahujan Samaj Party just 1 seat, Left 10, AAP 3 and Others 50 seats.

 

12.01 am: BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi wins the Varanasi constituency. He defeated the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress' Ajay Rai.

Modi also won the Vadodara LS seat by a margin of over 4 lakh votes.

 

11.30 am: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to resign, taking full responsibility for Congress debacle in the state.

Former Army Chief General V K Singh wins Ghaziabad seat for BJP. He defeated Congress' Raj Babbar.

 

10.50 am : BJP's B S Yeddyurappa wins the Shimoga constituency in Karnataka.

Gujarat-based Adani Group's stocks soared up to  17 % in early trade as counting indicades a landslide win for BJP-led NDA in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

 

10:30am : BJP-led NDA is set to sweep Lok Sabha polls 2014. Out of the 512 seats for which trends are available, the BJP and its allies are leading in 306 seats, while Congress is ahead only in 70 seats.

Mamata Banerjee's TMC is trending in 30 seats out of the total 42 in West Bengal.

Uttar Pradesh: BJP is leading, while the Samajwadi Party is ahead in 14 and Bahujan Samaj Party in 8 seats.

 

9:50am : Narendra Modi wins from Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency.

Ajit Singh, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader has lost from Baghpat in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. BJP's Satyapal Singh, a former Mumbai police commissioner won the Baghpat constituency.

BJP+  is trending in 293 seats, while the Congress+ is ahead in 74 seats.

Trends for other parties are as follows:  AIADMK 18, BSP 9, SP 13, Left 13, JDU 1, AAP 1, Others 41.
