BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is on the hit list of several terror groups. All the states in the country have been issued a high security alert by the Union home ministry stating that pan-Islamic and Sikh fundamentalist terror groups would be targeting Modi during the election campaigns.

According to reports, Modi faces maximum terror threat among all Indian political leaders during the pre-election rallies. Terror groups like the the Indian Mujahideen (IM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Hizbul Mujahideen, and former-cadres of the Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi) are likely to target the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

On January 21 just two days before Modi's Gorakhpur rally the Uttar Pradesh police issued a red alert that IM terrorist Hyder Ali alias Abdulla alias Shaqoor is out to target Modi. The alert suggested that Hyder has travelled to Gorakhpur from Lucknow on January 11.

Reports suggest that ex-SIMI man, Abu Faisal alias Doctor, is in touch with Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Taliban with the intension to target Modi, after fleeing from Khandwa jail on October 1 along with five other terrorists.

Moreover, Pakistan's ISI is pushing Hafiz Saeed, the LeT leader, to target Modi, the alert said.
Sikh terrorists like Lakhbir Singh Rode (International Sikh Youth Federation) and Jagtar Singh Tara (Khalistan Tiger Force) have been told by the ISI to target Narendra Modi in November 2013. Arrested IM terrorists -Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar aka Haddi – have also confirmed that the Gujarat CM has a terror threat from the group, stated the alert.
