Sunanda Pushkar's son, Shiv Menon on Tuesday stated that his mother was too strong a woman to attempt suicide. This is the first time after her death that Sunanda's son has come out openly defending his mother on the rumours of suicide that is abuzz in media.

Shiv Menon's statement suggested that anybody who knew Sunanda would not believe that she would commit suicide. She was a strong woman. Menon also debunked the idea of any disharmony in the married life of Sunanda Pushkar and her husband Union HRD Minister Shashi Tharoor as the couple was very much in love.

While refering to to the post-mortem report that suggested Sunanda's death to be a result of drug overdose, Menon felt that it was an unfortunate event perpetuated by wrong mix of different medicines, media stress and tensions.

Menon urged media to stop assessing the reason for her death stating that it was time to let her soul rest in peace. Her life had drawn more than needed attention so at least her passing should be peaceful. Shiv also stated that his mother died in her sleep and that her death was peaceful.
