The Devyani Khobragade fall-out not only strained ties between India and the U.S, but also outraged her bureaucrat father, Uttam Khobragade, a retired IAS officer and his daughter's defender-in-chief, who has now declared his intentions to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

The retired bureaucrat and a self-projected quintessentially self-righteous Indian, who was of late seen heading protests, popping up on television talk shows, and waxing non-stop indignant to the media, now buoyed by the collective outrage of aam junta and talk show pundits, is actively considering running for a political post.

While some peg it as a crusade for justice, others are calling it rank opportunism. Either way, given that the Indian government and pretty much all the political parties strong support of Devyani, we wonder what wrong would MP Khobragade could redress.

"There is nothing new in it (about joining politics). After I retired from the service talk started doing the rounds. Yes, I will contest the Lok Sabha election," he affirmed.

Tight-lipped on the party he would join, Khobragade said, "talks are on with various parties. I will make an announcement about it at an appropriate time."
