In a chilling incident, man walked into a police station holding the severed head of an elderly woman in one hand and in the other he held an axe. The incident took place at a village in Madhya Pradesh when a 62-year-old woman was decapitated by Hari Shank Gond alias Jhurru (30) for seizing a log that was felled by the man in Pand village located in Bundelkhand region.

After committing the crime, Jhurru took hold of the decapitated head and axe, and walked 4 kilometres to surrender before the Majhauli police station. According to eyewitnesses some women who saw the man with the old woman's head fainted as he passed by them.

Station house officer of Majhauli police station AN Jharia, said that Jhurru walked 4 kilometres with the severed head to surrender. The police station was informed when he was about to reach and the arrest was made, said Jharia. Jhurru confessed that he got into a quarrel with Meerawati Gond, the deceased woman, and if he hadn't killed her she would have caused his death by witchcraft.

The officer stated that the man seemed mentally stable but did not have any guilt about his act. Apparently, Jhurru said that Meerawati had been responsible for the death of his family members in the last few years through witchcraft. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased woman has been sent for postmortem and Jhurru has been booked for murder.
