Central and State Governments are delivering mobile based services through related departments, organizations and offices to farmers and other stakeholders with an intention to help them.

Governments have brought all the related organizations including Krishi Vigyan Kendras, State Agriculture Universities, Agro-Meteorological Field Units under one umbrella, named mKisan portal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The URL is www.mkisan.gov.in.

As per the Department of Agriculture Co-operation, the main idea behind the mKisan portal is to consider and deliver all mobile-based services and initiatives in the agricultural filed and allied sectors to farmers. The services include SMS (both push and pull), interactive voice response system, mobile apps and services, USSD (unstructured supplementary services of data). An interactive SMS, USSD is basically helpful to allow data entry and query on web portals without an internet connection.
