India's ace players Leander Paes and Sania Mirza sailed into the second round at Australian Open tennis Grand Slam. They have won the first rounds in their respective men’s and women’s doubles events in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Sania Mirza and her Taiwanese partner Su-Wei Hsieh, defeated the Argentine-Swiss combine of Maria Irigoyen and Romina Oprandi with 6-2 6-0 in just 48 minutes to advance.
Sania and Hsieh will face the Canadian-Polish pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Alicja Rosolska in their next level.
While in men's doubles event, 10th seeded Paes and his South African partner Raven Klaasen beaten the day over American duo of Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram with 6-4 7-6 (6) to enter the next round.
Paes and Klaasen will now face the winners of the match between Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey and the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini.
