13 times Grand Slam winner and world's reigning tennis champion Rafael Nadal has been voted as the greatest Spanish sports star in history by a local sports daily.
He was honored at the 75th anniversary of the Spanish sports paper Diario Marca, reported Xinhua.
The 27-year-old tennis star beat Tour de France winner, Miguel Indurain and basketball star, Pau Gasol, to cinch this popular sports feat.
The tennis ace has so far had a fantastic year, bouncing back into form from a career threatening knee injury and going on to win the French Open, as well as claiming his 25th and 26th ATP Masters 1000 titles in Montreal and Cincinnati, before then winning the US Open.
