The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has appointed the man who led the NSG operation during the 26/11 Mumbai attack as the security consultant for Team India during their tour of Australia, scheduled to begin this week.

The Indian team will play five ODIs as well as three T20 matches with Australia. The tour will begin with two warm-up matches against Western Australia. The tour is expected to serve as a preparation for the forthcoming ICC World T20 2016, which is slated to be held in March in India.

Brigadier (retired) Govind Singh Sisodia was appointed by the board as Team India’s security consultant. The appointment is applicable for the limited-overs series against Australia for now. But sources reveal that tere are possibilities that BCCI gives Sisodia a longer stint as India will very soon play in sensitive places like Bangladesh as well as matches in home during the World T20.

Major Amit Bhardwaj and Brigadier Sisodia, posted on deputation as DIG Training in National Security Guards (NSG), Delhi, were part of the core teams, which led the operation against terror siege on 26 November 2008 in Mumbai.
