The president of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mr Thomas Bach, who was the 1976 Montreal Games gold-medallist fencer, has cleared the media and all that India is not in the race to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

Media has speculated the chances of winning the bid to organize the 2024 Olympic Games as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach were scheduled to meet.

India hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, but credited with poor and insufficient functionality, and many scandals came into light after the conclusion of events. Mr Bach has described the meeting with Indian PM was excellent and termed the speculations as "too quick for India".

India may test its luck in the bid, whose deadline is September 15. But, this time the chances of winning would be difficult.
Indian Olympic Association was also suspended a year back allegedly for the political interference in the board and authorities.

"It's only been a year since IOA has come out of suspension. Clearly, the IOA has to find its feet. IOA needs to find ways on how to support the athletes and make India's sporting future a success. They should focus on athletes and their good results at the international events. For now, India needs to build its athletes, find unity among itself, so that you can field a strong team at the 2016 Rio Olympics," said Bach.

He also termed India as a sleeping giant, since India is having good population but no fruitful records in the international events. During the meeting both have discussed how to wake up the nation and its youth.

After the meeting with Mr Bach, PM Modi has highlighted importance of sports by tweeting, “IOC President Thomas Bach & I agreed that sports is a powerful force that can unite humanity & society.”
