India’s ace shuttler Saina nehwal suffered a defeat in the title fight of All England badminton championships in the hands of Spain's Carolina Marin. She started the game with full confidence as she made 21-16 in first set. From the second set her opponent played every moment to clinch the title with 21-14 21- 7 by Carolina.

The Olympic bronze medalist Saina would win the match if she maintained the tempo of fighting in her second set also. However, she became first Indian woman to reach the finals of the All England badminton championships. She would become third Indian to win the title after Prakash Padukone (1980), and her long-time coach Pullella Gopichand (2001), if her day won the match.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Saina Nehwal, for playing the prestigious finale of All England badminton event. "Well played @NSaina! We are very proud of you. You created history by reaching the finals. Keep up the spirit," Modi wrote in his twitter page.

Before this final fight, two times she appeared in semi final events, three quarter finals in her eight appearances in the BWF super series so far.

Saina has won in Indonesia (three times), Singapore, Australia, Denmark, China and Hong Kong of the thirteen Superseries events.
