Retired Indian cricketer and the brand ambassador of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sachin Tendulkar is finding himself among a long list of defaulters and why?
Apparently, the cricketer has been added to list of defaulters for non-payment of dues. But he isn't alone. The long list also includes other prominent names like late Shiv Sena honcho Bal Thackeray, Samajwadi party leader Abu Azmi and former Maharashtra Chief Minister AR Antulay among the two crore water bill defaulters in Mumbai.
The BMC officials owe around Rs 1,000 crore. It, however, has not revealed how much each of the bigwigs owe to the civic body.
“The BMC officials said that they will take action only on the people who owe them large amounts, for instance, during every billing cycle the list of top 100 and 500 defaulters are prepared following which action is taken. The defaulters will be given time for 45 days to clear the dues, failing which action will be taken against them,” The Daily Mail reports.
