Matters of the heart are not always under your control. Sometimes we fall in love with a person who is located far away. In such long-distance relationships several complications may arise. But with a little effort even a long-distance relationship can be like any other normal relation. Here are some tips for long-distance relationship.
Communication
Communication is the life of any relationship, especially in a long-distance relationship. Communicate as often as you can, via phone call or texts, telling him/her of your day-to-day experience. Talk about important things - like office events, promotion, salary hike, etc. – or mundane things like what to cook for dinner, which dress to buy (red or green) or where to go for shopping, etc. The physical distance will seem to vanish when you are in touch with your partner constantly.
Be reasonable
Remember we are all humans, inspite of being committed to our partners. So it's "ok" to be attracted to other people in the absence of your partner. If your partner is having fun with friends it's but natural to get jealous. So have a circle of friends and do your own set of fun activities. Meet friends, make new friends, have a night out or go for an excursion. Your activities with friends will be fodder for conversation with your partner. That makes you an interesting person rather than a boring and complaining sort.
Attraction to another person is normal
Since your partner is away it is natural that you can get attracted to another person. But don't behave impulsivey as it can jeopardize your long-distance-relationship. Be careful as as the person you're attracted to may be taking you seriously. So try and lay secific ground rules to avoid complications in future. For example, this person should not be better, in looks at least, than your long-distance partner. He/she may be a visiting student from another country and the person's Visa will expire soon.
Be honest
Long-distance relationship can be successful only if you are truly in love with your partner. Such a relationship is easy and grows strong with each passing day. However, be honest to your partner and yourself if you feel you have fallen out of love. If you are no longer in love then the best thing to do id to end the relationship, else it can be frustrating for the two of you.
