We all know Blood Pressure and diabetes leads to cardiac strokes and heart failures, but the researchers have found that heavy drinking will affect the middle aged person's heart functioning than that of BP and diabetes.

More than two drinks a day in middle-age may raise your stroke risk and causes cardio vascular damages than that of the traditional apprehensions from HPT and diabetes.

"For mid-aged adults, avoiding more than two drinks a day could be a way to prevent stroke in later age," said Pavla Kadlecova, statistician at St Anne's University Hospital's International Clinical Research Center in the Czech Republic.

In a study of 11,644 middle-aged Swedish twins who were followed for 43 years, researchers thoroughly compared the effects of an average of more than two drinks daily (heavy drinking) to less than half a drink daily (light drinking). And they found that the heavy drinkers had about a 34 percent higher risk of stroke, when compared to light drinkers.

However, at the age of 75, blood pressure and diabetes appeared to take over as one of the main causes for having a stroke, the authors pointed.

"We now have a clearer picture about these risk factors, how they change with age and how the influence of drinking alcohol shifts as we get older," Kadlecova said in the research paper that appeared in the American Heart Association journal Stroke.

It is to be reminded that BP and diabetes are also major influencing parameters for stroke. Heart health depends upon the cholesterol, Blood Pressure, sugar level, mental health, stress, food habits, fitness, etc.
