There are time when you feel all whacky and weird and have no idea why? Well, to begin with, know that for the most part, it's your crazy hormones at work. These chemical messengers spurting inside you pretty much rule your entire system, from your appetite to your sex drive and from your menstrual cycles to your body weight.

Think hormonal weirdness in a random occurrence over which you have no control? Think again! In truth, most of it is your own doing. Certain behaviors and habits can send the hormones in a tizzy, screwing up both your mental and physical health. We tell you what are those things. Pay heed.

Chocolate Addiction
Wolfing down on bars of chocolates can comfort your mind, but can also lead to unnecessary weight gain as well as make your body resistant to insulin. This could lead to pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome or even a full-blown type 2 diabetes.

Late Nights
The levels of the stress hormone cortisol is designed to drop at night so that the body can wind down and sleep. Staying up late at night thwarts cortisol levels from falling down, resulting in stress, insomnia, mood-swings, irritability. Lack of sleep causes cortisol levels to further crank up, making you crave for junk food. It's all a vicious circle.

Late-noon Java Shots
Cortisol is to be blamed again. Caffeine hikes the production of cortisol, which can make you feel anxious and fidgety. Drink no more than two regular-size cups java a day, preferably before 3 or 4 p.m.

Crash Diets
Crash dieting can cause a dip in body-fat levels due to either a super low-calorie weight-loss regimen or intense exercise sessions lowers estrogen levels, halting your cycle until your body fat returns to a healthy level.
