You can cover, you can hide, but you can't escape their bite. As much as we love to roll on the white sand/green grass and spend time outdoors during the hot days of summer, there is little escaping the pesky mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and mites that make our lives miserable with their irksome, painful, itchy stings. Sure, bug repellants are enough to ward off these puny nuisances, but most of them don't offer around-the-clock protection. So what do you do? Well, the next time you get bitten by a bug, literally, instead of making a beeline for the closest drugstore, opt for these amazing alternatives to ease your pain and discomfort first. Trust us, these remedies are as good as any over-the-counter med. Try to know for yourself.

Essential Oils
Next time you spot a painful bug bite on your body, immediately apply some tea tree, lavender, or coconut oil. These natural oils contain antibacterial properties that can allay itching, pain, and swelling instantly. So go for it.

Honey
If you can bear with some stickiness, applying honey on the bug bite can soothe your discomfort almost instantly.

Milk and Water
Take equal parts of skim milk and water, dissolve to make a thin solution, dip a handkerchief or an old T-shirt into the concoction, and dab on the bite for quick relief.

Toothpaste
Toothpastes with mint or peppermint flavor or those having menthol as its key can cool off the bite burn and reduce swelling in a snap.

Ice
Ice cube can constrict the blood vessels and decrease body’s natural release of histamine, stopping itching.

Vinegar
Dab vinegar onto individual spots and see the wonder.
