All the Rajini fans, don't miss the chance! With Thalaivar (Tamil for leader/boss) officially on Twitter now, a new record is well underway!

Minutes after Rajinikanth  debuted on Twitter on May 5, his following went from zero to a whopping 2 lakh within 24 hours and is growing by every hour. And if you think this isn't record-setting enough, try this.

Visit his Twitter page ( https://twitter.com/superstarrajini ) wait for five minutes, refresh the page and see the numbers of followers increase exponentially with every click of the refresh button. Wonder how big a fan following a superstar can have!

Avinash Yegyanarayanan, a Thalaivar fan and professional says, “Of course, as a big Rajini fan, I am thrilled. Rajini is so awesome that one tweet of his is equivalent to 3,792 tweets as per Twitter! And here’s something... which is a #truestory: Rajini joining twitter was such a celestial event that Chennai had rainfall for a week and a temperature of 25 degrees and it’s been awesome weather in Chennai over the last week at least. It’s the best thing to have happened to Twitter in ages... just wish he tweets instead of an ad agency.”

Pankaj Kumar, an IT geek, corrects, “I think everyone needs to first correct their grammar! Dude! It is: Twitter joins Rajnikant not the other way around.”

Like Rajinikanth had said in one of his blockbusters: “Naan oru thadava sonna, nooru thadava sonna maadiri” (If I say something once, it’s like I have said it a hundred times)  his first tweet — "Salutation to the Lord. Van.akkam an_aivarukkum !! A big thank you to all my fans. Excited on this digital journey" — which he posted five days ago, has been re-tweeted 14,000 times. People who are not on Twitter are checking his account and that has stormed a virtual tornado, literally.

Another tweet followed on May 7 that read: "Thank you for being a part of the fan family. Here is an exclusive Kochadaiiyaan poster for you, with a link attached to it.” The poster was removed later, however.

In true Rajini style, even his Twitter page has a typical Thalaivar aura. No rushing through things, not much of a talk. Just one tweet! And yes, there is no 'following' section on his page. Of course, who would the great Rajinikanth follow.
