Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday has canceled his two-day visit to Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, as he is down with high fever.

The Congress  leader apologized for cancelling the trip. He was scheduled to visit the three states, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, ahead of elections on May 16.

“Unfortunately I have been down with high fever since Sunday and the doctor has advised rest for the next two days,” he said on micro-blogging site Twitter.

“My apologies to the ppl of Puducherry, Tamil Nadu & Kerala for missing this opportunity of being with them on 10th &11th May as planned.”

“Shall keep everyone updated about the rescheduled visits,” Rahul tweeted.

On the other hand, Narayanasamy, the General Secretary of Indian National Congress had received an “unsigned letter” threatening to attack him and Rahul Gandhi.

According to the sources, the Intelligence Bureau(IB) and the Special Protection Group (SPG) have been asked to take maximum precautions for the security of Congress leader.

A top police officer in Puducherry, said that, "We feel the threat is directed towards local Congressmen as they have been responsible for the sorry state of affairs in the state. The letter did not name any one in particular but said the son of a former Prime Minister will be targeted. We have taken cognizance and have begun inquiries."
