The chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa has submitted her nomination papers to the returning officer. She has chosen the RK Nagar seat, which was vacated by her party MLA P Vetrivel.
She took her oath as CM of the state on May 23, and has to be elected to the legislature within six months to retain the post. She earlier had represented the Srirangam constituency, but was ceased to be a member of Legislative assembly as a court in Bangalore has convicted her Disproportionate of Assets case.
After the High Court of Karnataka has given clean chit in the same case, she has taken the CM chair again and has chosen the Radhakrishnan Nagar this time. The elections would be held on June 27. Interestingly, some of the major parties are boycotting the election, according to the reports DMK also one among them.
