The Non-Resident Indians Welfare Association (NRIWA) was created to represent the needs of the Non Resident Indian community. The organisation is registered in India under the Central Literary, Scientific & Charitable Societies Act has international jurisdiction. The Association's main objective is to strengthen the ties of NRIs and PIOs with their roots in India. It strives to make them part and parcel of their motherland, though living and working abroad.

All Non-Resident Indians, Personnel of Indian Origin, both their families and well wishers are eligible to enroll themselves or nominate a person as Patron Member of Non-Resident Indians Welfare Association.

NRIWA has facilities to assist its members in as many areas including providing educational facilities at different levels, providing medical care in India, helping with legal redress, real estate transactions, and so on
