A French Businessman is suing the cab service company ‘Uber’ over his wife’s discovery of rides that he took to see his girlfriend, his lawyer said.

Lawyer David-Andre Darmon said that his client once requested a cab from his wife’s phone.

Despite he logged off from his account, the application continued to send notifications to her Apple iPhone afterwards, which revealed his travel history and arousing her suspicious. Since then the couple has divorced.

Reportedly the lawsuit is worth up to 45m Euros approximately ($48 million). Darmon said that his client was the victim of a bug in an application. The case was lodged in a court at Grasse.

Darmon added that the bug has caused problems in his client’s private life. He added if Uber is getting too vital to fail.

Darmon did not comment on a report in Le Figaro newspaper that the lawsuit was worth up to 45 million Euros, saying only that his client wished to remain discreet and anonymous. Other users had also encountered the Uber software bug, Le Figaro said.

The newspaper agency tried an experiment by its own, it logged in and out of the Uber application on an iPhone and then logging into an another account and ordered a cab. Then the app sent notification about the order to both the phones.

The glitch affected iPhone users before a software update in December 2016, the newspaper said. Android Smartphone’s did not appear to be affected by the glitch.

Uber denied to comment on the case, but added that their priority was the best possible protection to their client’s personal details.
