Marc Andreessen, the Netscape co-founder and a Facebook Director, has felt that Indians were better off under British Rule. He made shocking comments about colonialism in India in twitter.

He said in a tweet that, “Anti-colonialism has been economically catastrophic for the Indian people for decades. Why stop now.” He made this tweet this morning. It has now been deleted.

Earlier, Andreessen said in a tweet that, India’s opposition to Free Basics is ‘morally wrong’. The director’s comments came during a conversation about the ban of Facebook’s Free Basics in India.

These comments from Andreessen came after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments that the company would not rest until India as well as other developing countries accept Free Basics.

Soon after India’s telecom regulatory authority (TRAI), blocked differential pricing by telecom operators, Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post that, “While we’re disappointed with today’s decision, I want to personally communicate that we are committed to keep working to break down barriers to connectivity in India and around the world.”

The comment from the CEO justifies the fears of net neutrality activists, who believe that Free Basics is a form of casteism to serve the interest of Facebook in finding its next billion users.
