The Shiv Sena makes highly controversial remarks by exhorting Hindus to act as “human bombs” to invade Pakistan. The party’s mouthpiece, Saamna, says Hindus should be able to live with pride in this country. The Shiv Sena said that the “fear of Hindus” was instilled by Bal Thackeray in other Indians.

The context for the comments by Sena is over the issue of Thackeray being depicted as a ‘terrorist’ in Tehelka weekly magazine. In an editorial in Saamna, the Sena attacked Tehelka and said publishing against Bal Thackeray, the Sena founder, is equal to “spitting at the sun”. The editorial also praised the Hindutva ideology of the Sena founder.

Tehelka cover pictures

Cover pictures in Tehelka included Dawood Ibrahim, Yakub Memon, Jarnail Singh Bindranwale and Bal Thackeray. “Who is the biggest terrorist?” was the primer. Saamna editorial that has objected the depiction said that the first three pictures are of religious extremists driven by blind faith while the last one of that of Mr. Thackeray was proud of his religion and people were proud of his nationalism.

“Hindus should be able to live in this country with pride. A Hindu’s voice should be like a lion’s roar. Hindus will have to be highly religious if they want to answer Pakistani extremists,” the Saamna editorial said.
