Greed knows no relations! A 20-year-old Indian girl in Dubai proved it right when she tried to elope with her boyfriend with gold worth multi-million dirham.

When her mother left her waiting in the airport lobby along with  Dh3 million worth of gold jewellery, little did she know what was to follow next. The girl ran away with all the gold, leaving her mother fearing the worst — abduction. The girl was later nabbed by the police together with her boyfriend.

Here is the twist in the tale. The girl ran away with all the gold hoping to share her good fortune with her beau and elope, get married and settle offshore. But her dreams crashed and her hideous plan came to light after Sharjah Police arrested them.

Confirming the news, the police officials said that they arrested N.K.D., a 20-year-old Indian woman, who was on the run with 20 kilograms of gold jewellery.

“The police were first notified when they received a call from N.K.D.’s mother who claimed that her daughter had gone missing after she had left her waiting with her jewellery in a taxi outside the free zone building,” revealed a Dubai local.

“Instead, the daughter had switched off her phone and had taken her mother’s gold to her boyfriend M.A.M., a Pakistani, who had conspired with her to quietly slip out of the country. The boyfriend, police said, was planning to follow his girlfriend after securing a way to transport the jewellery outside the country. The couple was planning to sell the stolen gold and start a new life together with the money after leaving the UAE,” sources said

When informed, Sharjah Police sprang into action, investigating the matter and arresting  her while she was trying to escape through one of the country’s airports.

The couple are in custody now.
