The story is from a book Nathaniel Philbrick which tells about the story of the Essex whaling ship sinking into the Pacific Ocean in 1820, according to show biz.

The story is about Essex attacked by a whale and the situation served as inspiration for Herman Melville's 'Moby Dick'.

The movie feature Ben Whishaw, Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson. Ron Howard is helming the film, with Charles Leavitt ('Blood Diamond') on screenwriting duties.

In the Heart of the Sea trailer – brought with the footage of the Essex's team battling, physically and rationally, in the wake of being stranded adrift – demonstrates the howard film, will be presented better than of Philbrick’s book than the first trailer suggested.
