Hilary Swank has criticized the gender pay gap in Hollywood, saying that she receives far less money for her work than her male counterparts

The Oscar-winning actress told students at the at the Loyola Marymount University School of Film & TV, in Los Angeles, that male actors are paid "10 times more" for doing the same job.

"I mean, there's two genders on this earth. Both are compelling, interesting, diverse, and wonderful in all their own separate ways. And yet there's an influx of male roles and there's just not for women."

Swank also talked about the lack of compelling roles for women. "It's also the fact that I'm, I mean, we, there's two genders on this Earth," she said.

"Both are compelling, interesting, diverse, wonderful in all their own separate ways. Some that are similar, some that are not. And yet there's an influx of male roles and there's just not for women."

Swank's most recent project was The Homes man with Tommy Lee Jones.

It is currently screening in the US and will open in the UK on November 21.
