Delhi realizes its mistake and throws AAP out April 26, 2017 11:32

The Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) has retained all three municipal corporations in Delhi. At around 10 a.m. BJP crossed the halfway mark by leading in 67 of 102 wards in for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) North. A party needs 52 to win the 104-ward municipality. In South Delhi, BJP was ahead in 65 of 102 wards. The MCD South too has 104 wards and a party needs 52 to win. In East Delhi, the BJP led in 42 of 63 wards. The MCD East is the smallest with 64 wards, and a party wins with 32. The only challenging completion to be excited was between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for a poor number 2 position. The MCD election is a clear report card of what Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has done over the past two years in office and Delhi graded him a big “F”. The election showed that Delhilites were disappointed by the false promises and claims made by Mr. Kejriwal, who assumed that public tax funds were his party’s personal property. While talking about Congress, Delhi made it clear long ago that they do not trust Congress, like the most of the country and just put them on the back seat. The whole country saw the results coming before the counting were conducted, which somehow Arvind Kejriwal failed to. Earlier, he tweeted that he will launch a “movement” if the BJP wins Delhi today. But, an hour into counting there was no sight of Mr. Kejriwal. Now, after the clear and fair election results, the country is happy about, wonder what APP has to say, while no one is caring about Congress. Earlier, Mr. Kejriwal suggested that the MCD polls should be conducted using paper ballots, while someone has to remind him the challenge the Election Committee has come up with and also remind him that we are in 2017. Polling was held on Sunday in 270 of the 272 wards of the three municipal corporations. The election to two wards has been postponed because candidates died. AMandeep

Rain wash-out Hyderabad vs Bangalore April 26, 2017 10:24

The second-leg match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore was called off without a ball being bowled as incessant rain made the ground unplayable. Both the teams got one point each from the abandoned match at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Rain lashed Bengaluru in the evening, but stopped about an hour before the match. It seemed that the match would go ahead as scheduled and Bangalore players even started warming up on the ground. But, just before the scheduled toss time it began drizzling and it continued non-stop. Later, the rain intensified and the match was dismissed. Though the cut-off time for a five-over shootout match was 11.26pm, the umpires called off the match at around 11pm. With a point, the home team jumped to sixth spot with 5 points from 8 matches, while Hyderabad remained at third with 9 points from 8 matches. Hyderabad had won the first leg between the two sides, which was the first match this season by 35 runs in Hyderabad. RCB were looking to come out of the embarrassing batting debacle when they were all out for just 49 in their last match against Kolkata at Eden Gardens. On the other hand, Hyderabad wanted to notch up their first away win this season. AMandeep

Malegaon Blast accused granted Bail April 25, 2017 15:10

The Bombay High Court on April 25th granted bail to the main accuse of 2008 Malegaon blast, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on a surety of Rs 500,000 and has also asked her to surrender her passport to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In August 2016 Sadhvi Singh approached the Bombay High Court after her bail plea was rejected by the NIA court despite the agency dropped all the charges against her in the charge sheet filed before the special court in May 2016. The agency also concluded that there is no substantial evidence against Sadhvi Singh to prove her role. However the High Court rejected the bail of Lt. Col Prasad Purohit, who is also accused in the case. Sadhvi Singh’s lawyer, Avinash Gupta said to the court that his client was not in possession of the motorcycle in which the bomb was planted as she had sold it to an absconding accused in the case four years before the incident. He also argued that the witnesses, who had given their statements against his client before the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which was investigating the case before the NIA took over, have retracted their statements. Nisar Bilal a surviving victim of the blast, who had intervened in the matter and advocate B. A. Desai, who is representing Bilal told the court that there is incriminating evidence against Sadhvi Singh. “There are reasonable grounds to believe that the accusations are prima facie true and that  Singh was part of several conspiracy meetings prior to the blast. There is voluminous evidence as well as witness statements to prove this.” He also added that NIA taking over the investigation from the ATS and conducting fresh investigations instead of further investigating it is illegal and that NIA’s investigations cannot be considered conclusive.” On September 29, 2008, two bombs planted on a motorcycle exploded in Malegaon, which is around 270 kilometers from Mumbai, killing seven people and injuring more than 100. Sadhvi Pragya Singh was arrested in October that year and Purohit in November and were charged with plotting the blasts as part of a pro-Hindu group, Abhinav Bharat. Pune end Mumbai’s unbeaten streak April 25, 2017 11:40

Risings Pune Supergiants finally ended Mumbai Indian’s six-match unbeaten streak at Wankhede and also won the second Maharastra derby this season after winning first in Pune. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi opened for Pune and scored an impressive 76 runs in 9.3 overs, before Rahane was caught & bowled by Karn Sharma. Later, Tripathi was dismissed in the 11th over. The visitors struggled to get the finishing kick as their big guns like Stokes and MS Dhoni could not capitalize on the death overs, which were bowled by Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Mcclenaghan and Jasprit Bumrah. Harbhajan took his 200th T20 wicket by dismissing Steve Smith in the 13th over. By the end of the innings the visitors managed to score 160/6. Rohit, who had scored just 4 runs from 4 games got over his dull form and scored 22 runs off Imran Tahir's 14 balls to guide Mumbai’s chase, which was shaky as batsmen like Jos Buttler, Parthiv Patel, Nitish Rana and Kieron Pollard perished to profligate strokes to keep RPS in the hunt. Ben Stokes’ brilliance subdued a solo effort from Rohit Sharma, who scored 58 off 39 balls and looked like he would win the match for Mumbai despite needing 17 off the last six balls from Jaydev Unadkat. Stokes mixed his length and pace to concede just seven when Mumbai needed 24 off 12 with good strikers like Pandya and Rohit at the crease. Sharma hit the second ball of the last over for six requiring 11 off four balls. Umpire S Ravi failed to spot a wide that incensed Sharma, who protested vigorously. The decision only made the match tough for the home side as they now needed 11 off three balls. It also affected Rohit’s concentration as he skied the next ball to be caught and bowled that effectively ended the contest. AMandeep

Hyderabadi woman sold to Kafeel for Rs 3 lakh April 24, 2017 18:34

One more woman from Hyderabad was deceived by agents and sold to a person in the Saudi Arabia is facing mental and physical harassment at the hands of her Kafeel (sponsor). 39-year-old Salma Begum, who is a resident of Babanagar ‘C’ block, was sent to Saudi Arabia by Akram and Shafi of the same locality on January 21, 2017 on a housemaid visa. Salma’s daughter Sameena said that her mother was cheated by the agents. She said her mother is in trouble and wants to return home, but her Kafeel is not allowing her to. She said that she met Akram and requested him to get her mother back, but he did not react so far. Sameena said that she reported lodged a complaint at Kanchanbagh police station, but the police appear to be unmoved by the matter and has not taken any action yet. Sameena further said that her mother has been sold to the Kafeel for Rs.300,000. "The torture started when she denied to a contract marriage with her Kafeel in Saudi Arabia. She, however, informed me sending a message that she was sold by agents. So the Kafeel does not want to send her back,'' Sameena added. She said that despite numerous complaints, the Kanchanbagh police failed to take actions against the agents. Akram was called to the police station once. He had assured that he would bring our mother back home by February 20, 2017, but so far she has not returned home, said Sammena. Salma has sent an audio message to her daughter in which, she requested the Indian government to bring her back to India. "I am trying all efforts to bring my mother back home. I kindly request Telangana and central governments to bring my mother back to India,'' Sameena appealed. Financial woes and debts drove Salma Begum to Saudi Arabia. The GCC countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE - manage its "temporary" migrant workforce through the sponsorship or Kafala system. According to this system, a local citizen or a local company must sponsor foreign workers in order for their work visas and residency to be valid. This means that an individual's right to work and legal presence in the host country is dependent on his or her employer, rendering him or her vulnerable to exploitation. In most GCC states, migrants cannot leave or enter the country without their employer's permission. Man sentenced to two years in Jail for stealing bird AMandeep

Breast Milk May Aid In Early Detection Of Breast Cancer April 24, 2017 14:46

A new study has discovered that, protein markers in the breast milk can help to identify the breast cancer at an early stage and also predict if a woman is at the risk of breast cancer. In young women, the objective detection of breast cancer is highly challenging during the early stages as the imaging techniques and mammography are less effective, as young women posses dense breast tissue and also there is a possible relationship between pregnancy and also the risk of Breast Cancer, said the researchers. Biochemical monitoring of protein markers in various types of body fluids is one of the best ways to detect the Breast Cancer. Researchers, including the researchers from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in US, have investigated the biochemical signatures of breast cancer which can be identified in breastmilk. Researchers compared the samples of breastmilk from women with breast cancer, to the women without breast cancer and also women who were later diagnosed with breast cancer. Research team later identified the alterations in protein expression in breastmilk when a woman has or soon will develop the breast cancer which might be due to cancer risk or development. In the form of exfoliated epithelial cells which are considered to be the origins for most types of breast cancers, breast milk also provides access to the breast tissue, said the researchers. Analysis of the breast milk is a non-invasive method, and the method can be used for cancer diagnosis. After the further validation of study, the method could offer a new and non-invasive approach to breast cancer screening for the women during their childbearing years.
