It's that time of the year again folks, the time to welcome the lord of lords, Ganapati, into our dwellings and home. Talking about Ganesh Chaturthi and Indian festivals at large, no celebration in India is complete without fasting and feasting, not to forget heaploads of sweets and snacks that find their way on our plates at the end of the day. Today, we bring to you one such easy to make festive special — “Coconut Burfis”. Quick, easy to make, and very tasty, these melt-in-the-mouth sweet treat is worth a shot. Note the recipe:
Coconut Burfi Ingredients
4-5 green cardamom seeds
3 Tbs unsalted butter
2 pinches of saffron
3 cups unsweetened finely shredded coconut
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
3 Tbs dry milk powder
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
chopped pistachios for garnish
Coconut Burfi Recipe
Take a large nonstick pot and melt the butter.
Add cardamom seeds and saffron lightly cook until fragrant.
Turn the heat to low and add the grated coconut, ground cardamom, and milk powder and stir until mixed well.
Pour the sweetened condensed milk and mix well again.
Remove from heat and spread the mixture in a greased tray.
Using a spatula, level the mixture and allow it to cool and set completely.
Cut into squares and garnish with pistachios.
