Do you love actor Sidharth Malhotra for his lover boy image? Then you will definitely be surprised to see him in ‘Ek Villain’ a new character.

Sidharth's character in the film has shades of grey, which the actor himself finds thrilling.

"Ek Villain" is a romantic thriller directed by Mohit Suri The actor says he agreed to do the movie as it had director Suri, considered an expert in this genre.

During an interview Sidharth reveals the reason for signing the movie. The first was that he loved the story. And the second reason being Mohit Suri, the film's director. Sidharth feels that Suri is most suitable to handle movies of this genre.

The 29-year-old actor also said that if the film had a new director, he wouldn't have done the film. Mohit was the right choice for ‘Ek Villain’, he added. Sidharth was very excited to do the film as it had a lot of new things.

Sidharth's character in the film is dark and intenseis. It's quite opposite to the romantic and lover boy image that he had in "Student Of The Year" and "Hasee Toh Phasee". The actor is confident that people will be surprised to see him playing his character.

The two-film-old actor is not afraid to do a grey character so early in his career.

The grey character no doubt involves a risk but there is no time bounding as to when an actor can play such a role, said Sidharth. He goes on to say that there is no guarantee that a film will work or not based on its genre.

"Ek Villain" will release on June 27 across theatres in the country.
