It's been five long days since the highly-entertaining official trailer of the year's most awaited film, Farah Khan's musical "Happy New Year" hit the YouTube.

And while the industrywallahs seems to have been completely blown away by it, lauding it as “stupendous”, “whopper blockbuster”, and “full on dhamaka”, the trailer hasn't quite generated the buzz as expected online.

With just 2.2 million hits so far, the trailer has turned out to be a big killjoy. In comparison, Hrithik Roshan's “Bang Bang” first teaser raked in 2.3 million views in its first day alone. Even Salman Khan's “Kick” recorded a whopping 4.2 million views in just two days after it went online. So what is stopping HNY trailer from going viral? Let's analyze:

Firstly, from the look of it, Farah Khan's HNY looks like a recycled edition of her older hits — “Main Hoon Na” and “Om Shanti Om”, blame it on SRK's contagious self-referencing syndrome where he wraps up the clip with the ominous declaration, “Picture abhi baki hai mere dost”. Too cliched!

Bollywood's inclination of copying from the West (read Hollywood) is nothing new. But Farah Khan's action musical seems like a montage of several inspirations. From aerial shots to lavish celebrations and from shirt-ripping shots to side profile views, the film is anything but original.

Also, like most Farah Khan's films, “Happy New Year” looks flashy and peppered with a dash of nationalistic sentiments ("Indiawaale" keeps reoccurring in the trailer). Also, five grown up men in pink tulle skirts, dressed up as ballerinas hardly amuses. Needless to say, cinegoers are wondering if there is anything to be happy about the “Happy New Year” trailer at all?
